Game On: Qatar’s upcoming season of world-class sports events
Qatar is set to host an exceptional lineup of international sports events in the second half of 2025, reinforcing its status as a global sports and events destination.
Here are some of the prestigious competitions set to take place across the country’s world-class venues.
AFC Fourth Round World Cup Qualifiers
Qatar will co-host the fourth round of Asia’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers across three days between October 08-14, alongside Saudi Arabia. The matches will feature six teams: Qatar, Iraq, Oman, Indonesia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. The six teams will be split into two groups of three, with the top team from each group securing direct qualification to the 2026 World Cup.

FIFA U‑17 World Cup
Qatar will host the first edition of the expanded 48‑team FIFA U‑17 World Cup from 03-27 November. This marks the commencement of FIFA’s decision to hold the tournament annually, with Qatar the host until at least 2029. The matches will take place in Aspire Zone, Al Rayyan, featuring eight pitches, with the final scheduled to take place at Khalifa International Stadium. This event will feature 104 matches over 25 days, offering young athletes a world-class stage in state-of-the-art facilities.
Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix
2025’s Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix is scheduled for November 28-30 at the high-octane Lusail International Circuit. The 57-lap, 308.6 km sprint-format weekend will feature practice sessions, a sprint qualifying, a sprint race, and the grand finale under floodlights. Lusail International Circuit, initially built for MotoGP in 2004, has since been modernised for F1, offering a fast-flowing layout with a long main straight and 16 signature medium-to-high-speed corners.
FIFA Confederations Cup
Qatar is once again set to host the final 3 matches of the FIFA Confederations Cup from 10 to 17 December 2025, marking the second consecutive year the country will stage the tournament’s closing phase. The tournament will culminate with the final on 17 December featuring European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
FIFA Arab Cup
The 11th edition of the FIFA Arab Cup will take place in Qatar from December 01-18. Building on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ legacy, the final will be held at Lusail Stadium on Qatar National Day. Six iconic stadiums in Qatar, including Al Bayt, Lusail, Khalifa International, Ahmad Bin Ali, Stadium 974, and Education City, will host 16 national teams from two confederations. Qatar has been confirmed as the host for this tournament as well as the next two editions (2029, 2033) by FIFA, reaffirming the country's global leadership in hosting football events.
T100 Triathlon World Championship Final
The T100 Triathlon World Championship Finals will take place in Qatar from December 11-13. This marks the start of a five-year hosting agreement, running through 2029, established between Visit Qatar and the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO). The event will feature top triathletes competing in a 100km format, comprising a 2km swim, an 80km bike, and an 18km run across Doha. The championship will also include amateur competitions as part of a larger multisport festival weekend. This milestone further strengthens Qatar’s position as a leading destination for global endurance events and sports tourism in the region.
